Mandatory Health Insurance Scheme
Introduction
As your health matters, we offer you a health insurance services that protect you against accidents and medical emergency related conditions during your stay in Qatar.
The well-being of the visitors to the State of Qatar is our priority, therefore the Ministry of Public Health has set the necessary regulations to ensure that you receive quality healthcare services if needed.
To achieve the desired goals of your visit to our country, whether for tourism or to learn about our culture and values, or to accomplish some business, obtaining health insurance that you trust and that guarantees you insurance coverage for medical emergency and accidents, will save you time, effort and money, in case the necessity arises.
Who are the visitors who are required to get insurance?
Mandatory health insurance is required for visitors who are required to obtain a prior entry visa before reaching the border crossings. A visitor visa will not be granted until the visitor has purchased a visitor's insurance policy.
Visitors who are eligible to obtain a visitor visa on arrival at the border crossings are exempt from obtaining a visitor's insurance policy for the first 30 days from the date of entry to the country. However, if they wish to extend their stay for more than 30 days from the date of entry, they are required to purchase a health insurance policy.
To avoid incurring the cost of health services at public and private health facilities, the Ministry of Public Health advises visitors with on-arrival visas to obtain a health insurance policy that covers emergency and accident services.
It is advisable to keep the health insurance policy and present it to authorities and healthcare providers on demand.
Note: Health insurance does not apply to transit passengers or temporary entry travelers.
