Yes. Health insurance is mandatory for Visitors of the State of Qatar.
It is purchased after submitting an application for a visit visa.
After applying for the visa on the website of the Ministry of Interior, the Visitor is directed to the Ministry of Public Health website to choose one of the insurance companies registered with the Ministry and follow the specific procedures for policy issuing.

The single insurance policy premium for a period of 30 days is 50 Riyals, and premium for other visas varies according to the duration and type of visas.

Yes. There is an insurance policy for multiple-entry visas and it remains valid from the date of entry until the policy expires.
No. The basic visitor insurance policy in case of a single-entry visa expires upon leaving the State of Qatar through any air, sea or land ports.
The Visitor should purchase the Mandatory health insurance policy from the registered health insurance companies or provide evidence that he/she has a valid international health insurance covered in the State of Qatar during period of stay.
The international health insurance policy should include the following conditions and requirements set the Ministry of Public Health in order to be accepted for entry visa issuance:
1) To be issued by one of the insurance companies included in the approved list by the Ministry of Public Health.
2) Its geographical coverage include the State of Qatar.
3) To be valid and cover the period of stay in the country.
4) To cover emergency services and accidents with an annual limit of 150,000 Riyals, without deductibles or excesses.
The policy can be uploaded to the website of the Ministry of Interior or a paper copy to be submitted to the competent officer t the border crossing.
It is a list approved by the Ministry of Public Health that includes a number of international insurance companies from which international health insurance policies issued are accepted for the purpose of visa issuing.
This can be verified by the applicant, upon receiving a letter stating the acceptance of the international insurance policy or receiving evidence of the issuance of the entry visa.
The international insurance policy is verified by the Ministry of the Interior to ensure that it is issued by one of the approved insurance companies, and that it covers the period of the Visitor’s stay in the country.

Health Insurance Scheme
No. The Visitor Health Insurance coverage is limited to the State of Qatar only.
Mandatory health insurance is required for visitors who are required to obtain a prior entry visa before reaching the border crossings. A visitor visa will not be granted until the visitor has purchased a visitor's insurance policy. Visitors who are eligible to obtain a visitor visa on arrival at the border crossings are exempt from obtaining a visitor's insurance policy for the first 30 days from the date of entry to the country. However, if they wish to extend their stay for more than 30 days from the date of entry, they are required to purchase a health insurance policy.
Health insurance premiums cannot be refunded after purchase of the policy if the stay duration is less than the period of the visa.

Registered Insurance Companies

Insurance Companies
The premium cannot be refunded after Visa issuance unless the Visa is cancelled, in this case partial premium will be refunded according to the policy of the insurance company.
Visitor Insurance policy should be renewed upon Visa renewal request for both visa types; "Pre-Arrival Visa" and "On-Arrival Visa" at the country's entry borders.
The Visitor will receive the Health Insurance Policy from the website of the Insurance companies who are listed and registered in the Ministry of Public Health, which will be issued electronically. The policy can be printed, kept and shown when needed.

Passport & Insurance Policy Documents
The Visitor can obtain the healthcare service or services that are not covered by the basic insurance policy after paying the fees specified for these services, whether in the public or private sectors. As well the Visitor can obtain, in advance, additional insurance coverage that are not covered by the basic insurance policy for Visitors from the insurance companies.
No, The basic visitor insurance policy coverage begins upon the visitor entering the State of Qatar.
Yes. The insurer shall provide the beneficiary with the list, data and details of the registered healthcare network, and the beneficiary shall be entitled to choose the appropriate provider from the list.
Yes. The Visitor can change the insurer when applying for visa renewal or upon insurance policy expiry date and choose any registered and listed insurance company on Ministry of Public Health website.
You can visit the service provider listed in the insurance company's network, and the beneficiary can contact the registered insurance company to direct him to the nearest treatment facility that has the capabilities to provide the required treatment.
Insurance companies and healthcare providers are obligated, according to the law, to establish a mechanism for receiving and resolving complaints. The beneficiary or the policy holder can visit the websites of insurance companies or healthcare providers and use any of the tools to file complaints.

The complainant may submit a grievance to the Grievance Committee in the Ministry of Public Health, according to the grievance policy and procedures, to appeal the decision of the Health Financing and Insurance Department and take the appropriate decision. Healthcare providers are obligated by law to provide emergency services without approaching the beneficiary for settlement, whether the service provider is included or not in the network list.
