Cardiovascular diseases

Cardiovascular Diseases

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death from non-communicable diseases (chronic) in Qatar.

Health Implications:

The mortality rate from cardiovascular diseases in 2011-2013 was 8.3 per 100,000 Qatari males and 4.1 per 100,000 non-Qatari males aged 20-44 years. Qataris over the age of 45 to 247 per 100,000, similar to mortality rates for the same diseases in other high-income countries. Although this percentage is slightly lower in the Emirates. However, discharge rates in Qatar are four times higher than those in OECD countries.

Health Goals Related To Cardiovascular Disease

  • Reducing the prevalence of cardiovascular disease and its economic burden by promoting healthy behaviors, including the organization of educational programs in primary health care centers
  • Develop and implement early detection guidelines to ensure early diagnosis of cardiovascular risk factors
