Licensing & Accreditation of Healthcare Facilities

Overview

As part of the National Healthcare Strategy (NHS) 2011-2016, the Ministry of Public Health is implementing a project that aims to establish a unique integrated healthcare facility licensing and accreditation system for the entire continuum of care in Qatar.

The National Healthcare Facilities Licensing and Accreditation Program is an integrated program that includes enhanced facilities licensing requirements based on objective international benchmarks, Qatar regulations& legislations, best practice in healthcare quality and patient safety.

The National Program is based on international best practices and in line with the International Society of Quality in Healthcare (ISQua) International Accreditation body that accredited the accreditation body to be awarded as international recognized Program. In this integrated program, healthcare facilities licensing allows the MOPH to evaluate facilities and provide a foundation of basic requirements that already adopted in earlier stages when undergoing accreditation to ultimately improve healthcare quality.

The main objective of the program is to build an effective system of continuous quality improvement while keeping Qatari citizen, visitors and expatriates safe when experiencing care. The result will be a more streamlined process for health care facilities that are undergoing the licensing and accreditation process, allowing them to focus on what they do best - serving their patients.
