Publication Date: 12 November 2018 Category:Primary News Ministry of Public Health has today launched Qatar’s first National Mental Health website sehanafsia.moph.gov.qa (Your Mind Matters).The website is an initiative of the Qatar National Mental Health Strategy (2013-2018). To bring mental health awareness to the wider community within the State of Qatar, the bilingual website has been developed in full collaboration between the Ministry of Public Health and key health partners, Primary Healthcare Corporation, Hamad Medical Corporation, Sidra Medicine and Naufar. The National Mental Health Website is a regulated and trusted online platform that hosts credible and up to date information on mental health in both Arabic and English to ensure the general public in Qatar can access reliable information on mental health and wellbeing in one place.A key aim of the website is to raise public awareness about mental health and reduce stigma associated with mental illness. This online resource will provide public information on wellbeing, mental health conditions, and how to access services in Qatar. Dr Salih Ali Al-Marri, Assistant Minister Health Affairs MoPH stated, “In line with the National Mental Health Strategy pledge to deliver mental health information resources, the key initiative was to develop an online, reliable and culturally sensitive bilingual resource that will provide the wider public, in the State of Qatar, with accurate information on mental health and services available in Qatar.”He added, “The website supports the delivery of the Strategy’s vision for good mental health and wellbeing for the people of Qatar supported by integrated mental health services with access to the right care, at the right time and in the right place.”Mrs Susan Clelland, Acting Executive Director of the National Mental Health Program said: “Launching the website today signifies a key milestone for the implementation of the Qatar National Mental Health Strategy, as it supports the delivery of the Strategy’s vision for good mental health and wellbeing for the people of Qatar. It particularly supports the pledge to raise public awareness about mental health, reduce the stigma associated with mental illness and make mental health information resources widely available for the public”.
