National Plan to Combat Antimicrobial Resistance

The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), in collaboration with the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office of the World Health Organization (EMRO)/WHO), are organizing a workshop on the development of the national action plan to combat antimicrobial resistance in the State of Qatar during the period 12 to 14 March 2017.

The national focal points from the MOPH and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment are contributing to the workshop together with staff from HMC, PHCC, MOI medical section, Qatar Army Force medical section, Qatar Petroleum, Sidra, Aspetar, private hospitals and representatives from tertiary education; Qatar University and Hamad Bin Khalifa University.

The objectives of this workshop is to develop multi–sectorial integrated NAP to combat AMR in the State of Qatar aligned with the objectives of the global action plan as well as the Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) strategy. It also aims at establishing “One Health Approach” of multi- sectorial group and provide a training for the taskforce on their roles and responsibilities to contain AMR problem at the national level and prioritize the interventions based on the importance and the urgency of the country requirements.
