Marking WHO’s “World Immunization Week-2016,” HE Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al-Kuwari, the Minister of Public Health, has paid a visit to the Leabaib Health and Wellness Centre and viewed the different services and events offered by the center on such an occasion. She also lauded the distinguished efforts behind the awareness raising events offered to school students and reiterated their impact on promoting health awareness among the youths and teenagers.
During the visit, HE Dr. Hanan met a number of visitors who commended the excellent services offered by the Leabaib Health and Wellness Centre. She also attended to their remarks and complaints, affirming that all the complaints of patients and visitors gain the utmost attention needed to enhance healthcare services.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), along with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Primary Healthcare Corporation (PHCC), joins the world in celebrating WHO’s “World Immunization Week” on 24-30 of April under the theme “Close the Immunization Gap” which aims to provide and enhance the use of vaccinations to protect different age groups against preventable disease.
This year’s World Immunization Week highlights the importance getting children vaccinated on time and according to the approved schedules, especially for the children’s first two years, as well as for mothers and pilgrims.
On another note, HE Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al-Kuwari` also inspected the newly-inaugurated Breast and Bowel Cancer Screening Suite at the Leabaib Health and Wellness Centre, which is the second facility of its kind, after the Al Wakra Centre, to promote PHCC efforts at extending its network to take cancer screening to a wider population.
HE Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al-Kuwari attentively listened to a detailed presentation by the designated personnel on the standard procedures adopted in breast and bowel cancer screening. She also toured the Screening Suite premises, which features two private and comfortable Mammography rooms and four bowel consultation rooms. The Screening Suite is run by Highly trained and qualified English- and Arabic-speaking staff and medical professionals. HE Dr. Hanan commended the services offered by the Breast and Bowel Cancer Screening Suite, as part of the National Cancer Program and the National Health Strategy, which marks a significant milestone in the shift toward preventive healthcare based on promoting the health and wellness of the Qatari society.
“The PHCC endeavors to provide and promote the use of vaccinations for all age groups in the state of Qatar against all preventable disease,” said Mariam Ali Abdulmalik, M.D., Managing Director of PHCC. She added that the PHCC, under the MoPH supervision, organizes a number of events to raise awareness of the importance of vaccinations for all age groups in line with WHO’s international policies.
It is worth mentioning that the Leabaib Health and Wellness Centre is the first facility of its kind to offer health and wellness services in Qatar and the GCC states using state-of-the-art facilities and clinics.
