Psychological Health

Mental health can greatly affect the health and well-being of individuals, families, and societies. Psychological disorders are considered one of the most burdensome strikes in the world, due to their prevalence and emergence at an early age, the long duration of infection, and the dysfunction that causes it.

Health Implications:

People with mental illnesses are exposed to high rates of disability and death, and the negative social impact of these diseases may be severe, as it affects their daily lives, their relationships, and their educational and professional careers. In addition to the above, mental disorders affect the welfare of individuals and constitute a significant burden on health care systems, social welfare, and economic output. Mental disorders also increase the risk of individuals suffering from physical diseases such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease and neurological diseases, exacerbating the severity of existing diseases and delaying their recovery and the resulting injuries. It should be noted that there are many risk factors common to mental disorders and other non-communicable (chronic) diseases, such as stress, poor social and economic status, and the use of addictive substances with psychological impact.

Mental Health Goals

  • Promote public awareness of mental health and get rid of the stigma associated with mental illnesses, so that this reflects an increase in the behavioral index and awareness of mental health
  • Establish programs to promote mental health and prevent its disorders across sectors targeting different population groups, including workers, children, youth, and families
  • Drafting and disseminating mental health information, including the creation of a national website that facilitates early access to mental health services
  • Develop and implement national initiatives aimed at reducing suicide and self-harm
